Single and happy

In this couple- driven society we are bound to come across people who think that finding a pair is the ultimate goal in life. They always think that finding someone to cling to can lessen the burden in one's life. Some may imply the idea that being single is somewhat "wrong". Now, why am I discussing these statements?
A couple of days ago, I realized that i missed someone. I've already convinced myself that he is special to me as well as I am to him - so he says. But, why am i still single? What's stopping me to be involved in relationships and commitments. I've never really had a traumatic relationship in the past. I mean I've never even  had a relationship, EVER. I'm part of the all known "No Boyfriend since birth" club and I'm turning 20 this year. I'm hesitant on saying that this is something to be proud of because a lot of acquaintances never believe me when i tell them that I've never been in a relationship. At least I can say that I did survive a lot of temptations that came along my way. The common reason i would say is that, "I'm concentrating on my studies as of the moment" or "My parents won't permit me" and the simplest thing I would say is that "I prefer to be single." But apart from all these so - called reasons I grappled the insides of my heart and soul and searched the rationale of my choice.

1. FATE
Apparently, I'm the kind of person who wants destiny to land at my doorstep. I know it sounds really passive. But for me, it works that way. I'm not going to try all the flavors of ice cream just to find my right taste. There has to be something special about the moment we meet and how I feel about him to know that he's the right one. Yes, It sounds lame, but this is me. I'm a hopeless romantic. We should not tire ourselves in choosing love, It comes to us eventually. As long as we are patient enough to wait for it.

2. The real meaning of a relationship
Most relationships I've heard end up a lot quicker than we thought. There's a month long relationship, to weeks and then there's just the days. Even the infamous marriage of Britney Spears ended up 24 hours after their wedding vows. How terrible is that. All those love and happiness don't really mix up quite well when we hear these stories. These untimely breakups happen because of their poor foundation. More  relationships these days started from online social networks, texting, and even random rendezvous at night clubs. For me, the best foundation for a long lasting relationship is friendship. The best lover is also your best friend. Someone who accepts you for who you are no matter how many flaws you've got.

3. The happily ever after cliche
Sacrifices are essential in a classic relationship and this should be valued by both of the people involved. thus, I am in the search of the man who thinks the same. It can add a lot of good things in life but it also adds some rigidity. So right now i'm taking the time to appreciate my current flexibility.

4. Finding myself first
To find the right guy i have to be the right girl first.

5. NO heartaches
Yes, it's true. If we don't have someone, then we won't have the risk of getting our heart broken. Although falling in love is the most beautiful feeling in the world, the aftermath would be the feeling that happens when you're left behind by a loved one. Apparently, I haven't really been heart broken before, but I've got friends who share and confide with me about their love problems. I'm thinking deep inside that i'm not yet mature and ready enough to handle this kind of pain. The kind of pain where waking up and taking your first deep breath would be really difficult. Do single people experience this? A little bit of jealousy pain, yes but not this intense. If you can enjoy life by yourself, then why complicate it by getting into a relationship?

But nevertheless i know that when I find the right guy. The REAL GUY that I'm certain that he's the one. All these conditions would never matter. As everybody would say, we loose our minds when we're in love. To sum everything up, maybe the Simplest reason why I'm still single today is that my mind is still functioning well over my heart.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

A few days ago, I finished reading Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games Trilogy. I got hold of these amazing books due to the books suggestions of my friends and from the feedbacks I have read at goodreads.com. Well, I hopped in the bandwagon and realized from the first chapters that these books would blow my mind. I mean, I'm still not in the real world right now. I'm still in Panem with Katniss Everdeen and her other tribute, Peeta Mellark. You won't ever regret reading these books for they are one of the most exciting books i have ever read and totally left me in a catatonic state.
The first Book: The Hunger games
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The Second Book: Catching Fire
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol.
The 3rd book: Mocking Jay
Young Katniss Everdeen has survived the dreaded Hunger Games not once, but twice, but even now she can find no relief. In fact, the dangers seem to be escalating: President Snow has declared an all-out war on Katniss, her family, her friends, and all the oppressed people of District 12. The thrill-packed final installment of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy will keep young hearts pounding

Above, are the book covers and some introductions for the book. I would really want you to read these books. I even actually forced my sister into reading this one and now she can't even put it down. I think she's also far from reality today just like what happened to me before. I was in a state of bliss. You should actually read it too. If you're a Young Adult Fiction lover too. I bet my stuff, you would love it too. :)

Actually, after I finished reading the last Twilight book, I stopped living. I mean that's my problem. When I totally love a book or a movie, I try to live in them. Daydream on being the Protagonist of the plot. And then, i subconsciously told myself that i would never love another YA book again.  Now that I have read the Hunger games trilogy, i can happily say that I was wrong. Hunger games definitely has more action, more flavor, stronger plot and lots of well-developed secondary characters as well as undeniably likeable main characters. And with such a rich world and cast of characters, it's hard to resist being drawn in. You will love and hate this book. I just kept guessing what's going to happen next and then i would be wrong. I laughed and cried with the book. But, don't really think that this is a tear jerking book. I ]'m just a really soft-hearted person and i cry on very shallow stuff. Well, That's me.

But, before you read these books i'm warning you that this trilogy doesn't give you a "happily ever after" ending. Well, i don't know if Suzanne Collin projected it that way or not. But for me, no ending in any way presented would be enough for the devastations that happened in the book. I mean, I'm in no position to give spoilers here but the ending just made me lie in my bed feeling depressed and wondering to myself what went wrong. When Suzanne Collin's did really try to establish (in my point of view) a pleasant ending. But i was still not satisfied. However, the whole book was fantastically written and very compelling.

I'm very sure that once you start reading this book, you will never put it down again :))

Extra Terrestrial

This will be my first feature of a music video in this blog mainly because I just can't get enough of this song. It's stuck in my head and the only song in my custom made playlist for this week. That's how hooked I am. I totally raped the replay button on this one.
Kanye West in the song was perfect. I totally disagree to those people thinking Kanye West just ruined the song. It was like the appetizer to the main dish. For me, this song was reminiscent to Tatu's "All the things she said" song so with Kanye introducing the first parts, it totally identified the song.
The song itself gives you a space- alien feel and the video totally showed it. It's got some weird parts also.  To wrap it all up, the video showed Kanye floating in circle in some anti-gravity setting singing his verse and then comes an unidentified object that floats in space which becomes an alien and eventually becomes a really alien looking Katy. She falls in some deserted land and kisses a robot or some futuristic lover which then becomes a REALLY WEIRD albino guy with no clothes on. And turned out Katy was not only an alien, she was also half- goat.
I know, the video was really weird and was too eccentric for my taste but it just screamed the out-of-this-world feel which was kinda justifiable to the song. And I just love the song. So thumbs up to Katy Perry and of course, Kanye West.

Lyrics:

[Kanye West - Verse 1]
I got a dirty mind I got filthy ways
I'm tryna bathe my eyy in your milky way
I'm a legend I'm irreverent I'll be reverend
I'll be so faaaaa-ar up
We dont give a fuuuh-uh-uck
Welcome to the danger zone
Step into the fantasy
You are not invited to the other side of sanity
They callin me an alien a big headed astronaut
Maybe its because yo boy Yeezy get ass a lot

[Katy Perry]
You're so hypnotizing
Could you be the devil
Could you be an angel
Your touch magnetizing
Feels like I am floating
Leaves my body glowing
They say be afraid
You're not like the others
Futuristic lover
Different DNA
They don't understand you

Refrain:
Your from a whole other world
A different dimension
You open my eyes
And I'm ready to go
Lead me into the light
Chorus
Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me
Infect me with your love and
Fill me with your poison
Take me, ta-ta-take me
Wanna be a victim
Ready for abduction
Boy, you're an alien
Your touch are foreign
It's supernatural
Extraterrestrial

Your so supersonic
Wanna feel your powers
Stun me with your lasers
Your kiss is cosmic
Every move is magic

Repeat Refrain
Repeat Chorus

[Kanye West - Verse 2]
I know a bar out in mars
Where they driving spaceships instead of cars
Cop a prada space suit about the stars
Getting stupid hah straight up out the jars
Pockets on shrek, rockets on deck
Tell me whats next? Alien sex.
Imma disrobe you
Then Imma probe you
See I abducted you
So I tell you what to do

Repeat Chorus
Extraterrestrial (3x)
Boy, you're an alien
Your touch are foreign
It's supernatural
Extraterrestrial

The best way to start my summer 2011

VACATION- a specific trip or journey, for the purpose of recreation or tourism usually done with family or friends. Well, in our case, it is defined as a period of distressing from all those tiresome days of school wherein we are caught eating magnanimously, drinking endlessly and partying all night.
And as we all know, summer 2011 has finally knocked our doorsteps. Well, who am i to deny the excitement everyone anticipates every summertime. Let's welcome SUMMER 2011 with a blast.
Hiding all the excitement I feel inside
I kid you not, we have planned this outing since the holiday season. Three pretty grils are celebrating their birthdays this month and what is more exciting than a joint birthday celebration in 3 different island in CEBU. These girls were JK (who was featured in my previous post), Jean, and Kathe. All of them are part of my BOLINAO GIRLS - what we call our group.

I started the day by waking up at 5am knowing the rather short land trip to Lapu-lapu city would take a lot of stop overs. We had to load a lot of food in our compartments since we wouldn't want our little vacation to be disturbed by our grumbling tummies. Well, most of us are on a diet anyway and mind you i'm definitely not one of those people. I'm a food lover and anyone that takes me away from food would surely be in the right way for a slap button. Even myself. hahaha  I sound so harsh and we're so off topic. Just the mention of food distracts me :D

We had to ride on this cute little "BOATEE" before boarding into our bigger Banca
At our arrival in Lapu-lapu CIty, we were directly ushered into a so-called mini port which looks like an unfinished bridge to me. And since the tide wasn't really high that time, we had to ride on this little boat which i call "boatee" to board us in our bigger Banca. As usual, you have to pay these people for their efforts of transporting us.
The unfinished bridge :))
Thank you God for the wonderful, shining, shimmering and splendid SUN. :p
Nothing could replace all the fun that rolled in when we boarded the Banca. Cameras started flashing and most of us were dancing in the beat of a speaker attached to an i pod. Good thing we did not violate the 1st beach rule: Always bring portable speakers and i pod and get the party started.

Our first stop of the trip was the Nalusuan Island. The engine roaring to a hault signaled our cue to strip into our swim wears and let the water splash begin. But before dipping into the water and getting our hairs all wet, we had a little pictorial in our banca and here are some of the pictures i personally love.

I love this shot! And i took it. :)) Mikko in his "Ninoy look
The color of the day would most definitely be Aquamarine. And i'm wearing a shade of it. :))

There's three of us.

Janessa, Chaie, Winjie, Me and Jean in our Doll-house swimwears. :)
Even the pre-swimming had to have a shot
Is it so obvious that i super love my goggles.? They match my outfit
That's me taking shots on my friends, at least you can say that i'm not the only vain person here. :))
And another vain person. Peace!
So clearly, most of the things we did in that place was to take a lot of pictures, and some swimming of course. Then, we had to transfer to another area since a lot of jellyfishes were starting to flock. But before the engines started to roar, we sang a happy birthday song to our lovely birthday girls. Then, the food was served. Nam-nam

Someone just couldn't get his hands off the food. hahaha
The next stop was to Sulpa, a small uninhabited island somewhere near Nalusuan or maybe far from Nalusuan. Forgive me for not being a great sea navigator. :)) We rounded the island looking for a place to land. Like I said, the tide was low and the banca wasn't able to bring us to the island directly. So we all went down into the chest-level water with our cameras above our heads (Sadly our cameras weren't waterproof).

Heading to Sulpa island.
My Bohol girls - minus Febrah. :((
The sea looks so inviting
This was supposed to be a video :D
The island even has white sand :) Lovely :)

We got sundrugged.
Someone is also posing behind us.
Resting in a cottage in the island
Last shot before boarding the banca.
It's our first time to land in this relatively unspoiled island. Only cottages where available, i bet there's also no electricity in the island. And again, all we did in the island was to take more pictures. Moments that would want to be turned into precious memories. With the sea sighing at our background, what's not to love?
After boarding the Banca, we then headed to our supposedly pit stop of the day. The Talima Marine Sanctuary. I've already been here though, so i anticipated a lot of fishes including my favorite one from last time, the Purple fish. Almost all of us swam into the water and fought the waves. I literally got a headache and almost drowned from laughing so hard while swimming. A little bit of snorkeling and jumping in the water, then most of us got tired and decided to chat under the roofs of our banca. Some were also sleeping and are most probably drunk. We chilled at the beaches of Tambuli Beach Resort and then headed for the port. Most of us were really sleepy and tired that it became quiet in the boat.
Heading home
The whole time I was there, my brain was silently screaming "MORE". It was so difficult to leave and the fun an excitement has not entirelt died yet. And then, i am reminded by those rays of the sun shining ahead of us. It's officially the start of summer.
We'll meet again soon islands of Cebu. :)

Flirting since birth - it's your birthday!

WELL, hello there FSB

Smile for the Camera
This post is solely dedicated to my one and only FSB, Kristine Jessa Escobedo. She's turning 19 today and i'm hoping that the blowout would be fun. Well if you are wondering who she is, she is my very perky and fun-loving classmate from Bohol, Philippines. This hello kitty fanatic might be very shy and innocent at first look but actually she is, well not the total opposite, but the half-way opposite of it. (Is that even a word?. haha JK). There is no wonder why we are friends, she really gets along with my girly side. I am so lucky to have a friend like this girl.
"I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday and to let you know that you are not alone. Should you need someone to lean on, I will be here for you. Looking forward to many more years of fun and friendship. :)) thurr
This time it's for keeps
